Referring to the position of charity in the religious texts, His holiness appreciated the services rendered by Imam Khomeini (r.a.) Emdad (welfare) Committee


In continuation of His Quranic commentary meetings in the Imam Khomeinin (r.a.) mosque in the shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (s.a.), referring the verses of Light sura, His holiness expressed: Charity and alms-giving is one of the most valuable and best deeds with God.

Referring to the verse 219 of Light sura implying charity for the sake of God, His holiness stated: What we give for charity shall be of the best and what we like. We could spend of our knowledge and science, reputation, property and whatever is valuable for us to be satisfied with God.
His holiness continued: Alms is payable to five groups of parents, relatives, the orphans, the poor and the travelers not arriving their destination.
Appreciating the programs of Emdad Committee for trusting the orphans to the people, His holiness expressed: This is a very good program which has been started by the Emdad Committee in the recent years and people could contribute the orphan in this way.
Considering that some people do not pay alms despite of having many wealth, His holiness stressed: This is a sort of stinginess that despite of plenty of wealth, some people still do not pay alms for the sake of God, while people shall spend of the best they have for the sake of God.
His holiness continued: Some engage in luxuriousness and miserliness, and they are many of such instances in the world, who do not know how to spend their wealth.
At the end, His holiness stressed: The luxurious and misers are the mad who do not know what they are doing. They even buy people in the world with their wealth and property, and select their favorite president!
