Not long ago, Sheikh Badreddin Hassoun, the Grand Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic, visited Iran and, during his visit to Iran, he also had an important, yet friendly meeting with Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi in the holy city of Qom. Upon his return to Syria, Sheikh Badreddin Hassoun wrote an official letter to Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, a part of which is presented below:
In our hearts and souls will forever remain the reflections of the light of your radiant soul, and the brilliance of your tremendous courage which is accompanied by compassion and affection.
