His Eminence’s response to the inquiry from a group of believers regarding the threats of the US and zionist regime against the Supreme Leader and the Shiite authority

It is incumbent upon all Muslims around the world to take actions in order to make these enemies regret their such heinous words and actions, and if they endure hardship or loss in doing so, they shall—God willing—be recompensed by Allah with the same reward as those who engage in Jihad in the way of Allah.‌

Following the emergence of threats from the President of the United States and leaders of the Zionist regime against the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Shiite authority, a group of believers have inquired from His Eminence Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, regarding the responsibilities of Muslims in response to these threats. The detailed question and His Eminence's response are as follows:

To the great Shi’a Marja͑, grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi,

Greetings and Salaam,

During the past few days, the US president and the government officials of the Israeli regime have repeatedly threatened that they might attempt to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader as well as a number of Shi’a Marāji͑!

We write to ask for your fatwa regarding the act of threatening to assassinate the Supreme Leader and the respectable Marāji͑ and also regarding what Muslim people all around the world are duty-bound to do if these threats are_ God-forbid_ actually carried out.

May Allah protect all of the righteous Marāji͑ and Iran’s Supreme Leader under the auspices of Imam al-Mahdi’s (͑a).

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon you,

A group of Muslim believers.

The Message of the great Shi’a Marjaʿ, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi in response to this letter

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Ever-Compassionate

Any individual or regime that threatens or—God forbid—assaults the Supreme Leader or the Shi’a Marāji͑ in an attempt to undermine the Muslim Ummah and its sovereignty is considered a muḥārib (one who wages war against God and His Prophet (ṣ)). Any form of cooperation with or support for such a person or regime by Muslims or Islamic governments is strictly prohibited and haram. It is incumbent upon all Muslims around the world to take actions in order to make these enemies regret their such heinous words and actions, and if they endure hardship or loss in doing so, they shall—God willing—be recompensed by Allah with the same reward as those who engage in Jihad in the way of Allah.

May Allah protect the Muslim Ummah from the evil of its enemies and hasten the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (͑a).

May Allah bless you all with success and prosperity.
