Following the order of Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, the renowned Pakistani cleric and activist announced the end of his hunger strike after eighty five days.
Speaking in the twenty eighth martyrdom anniversary of Sayyid Āref Hussein Al-Husseini, Hujjatoleslam Allameh Rājih Nāser Abbas Ja‘fari stated: “Despite our deteriorating physical conditions, we had decided in a meeting of the Central Council of the Assembly of Muslim Unity to continue our hunger strike. However, due to the orders we received from our religious authorities and in order to respect the orders of great Shia scholars, we now announce the end of our hunger strike”.
He further stated: “Of course we will continue our peaceful sit-ins until we are granted all our legitimate rights.”
It is worth noting that, following the deterioration of the physical conditions of Allameh Rājih Nāser Abbas Ja‘fari,  Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi sent him a letter in which he asked him to end his hunger strike. Allameh Ja‘fari had begun his sit-in and hunger strike in a camp that is located in the Islamabad National Press Club on May 13th 2016. He began his strike as an objection to the incessant violence and injustice leveled at the Shia Muslims in Pakistan and he refused to end his hunger strike despite the loss of over 34 kilos of his weight and the deterioration of his health.
