Speaking in the twenty eighth martyrdom anniversary of Sayyid Āref Hussein al-Husseini, Hujjatoleslam Allameh Rājih Nāser Abbas Jafari stated: "Despite our deteriorating physical conditions, we had decided in a meeting of the Central Council of the Assembly of Muslim Unity to continue our hunger strike. However, due to the orders we received from our religious authorities and in order to respect the orders of great Shia scholars, we now announce the end of our hunger strike".
