The events of Yemen are a sort of retrogression to the pre-Islamic ignorance days/we should be careful not to be deceived by the human rights slogans of the West

The atrocities that are being committed in Yemen, with the green light of the U.S. and that of the west and the Arab League, are considered to be proofs and evidence of retrogression to the barbaric ignorance days.‌

Condemning the Saudis’ atrocities in Yemen, during his Fiqh course held in the A’zam mosque in Qom,  Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi also condemned the silence of the international organizations with regard to these brutal crimes and said: “for a long time the Americans and the West were propagating that era of barbarism is over and that the modern man is a worthy and moral one. Some people were also fooled by these propagations and they insisted that we had to follow in the Westerners’ footsteps to be able to enter the era of civilization”.

He added: “this had gone to the point that some of the prominent figures of the past, who were not clergies, were also enchanted by these propagations and they said strange things about the ways of the Europeans. Today, however, we are witnessing conditions that are considered to be perfect examples of retrogression to the barbaric ignorance days”.

His eminence called the atrocities that are being committed in Yemen with the green light of the U.S., the West, and the Arab League proofs and examples of retrogression to barbarism and ignorance days and stated: “is it not barbarism and ignorance to bomb a helpless nation for fifty days and destroy all their resources and vital infrastructure?”

Stating that unfortunately a Muslim country is being so brutally attacked and bombed in a prohibited month, he noted: “they do not allow food and medicine to be shipped to Yemen but they allow devastating bombs to be used to kill the people there; is this anything but barbarism and retrogression to the pre-Islamic ignorance days?”

His eminence continued: “the aggressor is now free to destroy whatever he likes but those who want to save the injured are being banned from doing so; even worse than that, there are Muftis who attempt to legitimize the Saudi atrocities”.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, then, addressed such Muftis and noted: “aren’t you aware of the instructions in the Quran and the fact that the month of Rajab is a prohibited month? This is a proof indicating that these Muftis still live in the ignorance days”.

He further stated: “these events and issues also have a message for us; they remind us not to be deceived by their false slogans. We must not let them deceived us with their human rights slogans and their other slogans because their true nature is what has been revealed today”.

In the end, his eminence prayed for the elimination of the problems and adversities of all Muslims and noted: “we hope that Allah the Almighty would send the evils of these evildoers back to themselves, and to grant Muslims victory in this great Month which is blessed with the birthdays of several Imams, and to smite and humiliate the enemies”.
