The Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi in a meeting with “Marco Sassoli” professor and director of the Department of international law of the University of Geneva stated: unfortunately, the human rights has become a means for politicians to reach their agendas.
He expressed that they impose so many objections with regard to human rights towards Iran, while a number of Arab countries have no election, no democracy and do not respect human rights at all, but you have not seen these western governments say a word against them and this is because they totally act in accordance with western governments’ interests.
His eminence emphasizing on the fact that we have experienced numerous real elections added”
our constitution is composed of unique features and is highly voted by the people. If you go through the constitution, you will admit that it is quite logical and emphasizes on human rights. However, western governments are not satisfied with this and the only criterion for them to judge is their own interests.
The Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi appreciated the endeavor, this western scholar is undertaking, as a tour around Islamic countries and continued: We hope that all western thinkers come to know the fact that they have to meet directly with Islamic groups and Islamic figures, the way you did, in order to hear their beliefs f r o m themselves not f r o m others.
Highlighting the fact that others in many cases show the reality exactly the other way around, he indicated “Some of westerners who come to our country say that what we knew about Iran and what we saw here are not comparable, as though there are two Irans, one in the western media and the other in the reality and this is really pitiful”.
His eminence explaining Islamic teachings, stated: what we are seeking is a peaceful life along with all people in the world. We do not have any quarrel with any group that does not have quarrel with us. This is among the teachings of the Holy Quran.
He pointed out that Islam commands Muslims to get together during Hajj season in a specific place and become aware about the situations of each other and continued that: the world will be destroyed if every group thinks only of itself; so all should think of all. Religious teachings tell us that you should consider other’s interest together as well as your own interest. If this principle is followed, the world will be safe and at peace.
In another part of his speech, He touched on the fact that the politicians try to spark war and conflict among Muslims. "Shiite and Sunni Muslims had been living together peacefully in Iraq for a thousand years and there were no sign of these massacres. Now, nevertheless a great number of each side is brutally killed every day. We are aware of the ones who invoke them so that ethnical conflicts and civil war be waged in this country," he added.
The Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi counted problems that Islamic countries are dealing with such as secession or becoming weak, as a result of civil war and his eminence denoted: either of these two consequences is desirable for imperialist governments. Therefore, their main agenda is to cause conflict, division and civil war in Islamic countries.
He expressed: One of the most important problems is that they have the control of almost all media in the world. They prevent our voice to be spread and reach the people across the world and until this situation is not corrected, neither human rights will be improved, nor democracy can be established.
"Islam teaches us that if you cannot correct something entirely, try your best to the extent you can. We act according to this rule and extend it to all social affairs, and move forward with hope. Hence, as long as we are alive we are obliged to strive for the advancement of implementation of human rights." His eminence noted.
At the end of this visit professor Marco Sassoli described the meeting as a very beneficial and fruitful session.
Today the "Human Rights" is only a toy in the hands of politicians
“They these days impose so many objections with regard to human rights against Iran, while a number of Arab countries have no election, no democracy and do not respect human rights at all, and they even never been criticized so far as these countries act according to their interests in the region“
