By Resorting to Moderation Muslim Scholars Should Neutralize the Plots of Enemy

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi at the conference of Moderation and solidarity of Muslim Ummah and the Mission of Scholars held in Mashhad in which a great number of both Shia and Sunni scholars f r o m Afghanistan had participated stated: Moderation could be found in the all creatures of Allah (swt) as well as commandments of Him to humanity; what causes the universe goes on is moderation and balance.   

Referring to the verses of the holy Quran his eminence declared that Islam has introduced moderation as its agenda; Almighty Allah (swt) states:

وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لِّتَكُونُوا شُهَدَاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا(بقرة 143)

“Your Ummah is the balance and moderate Ummah neither this end nor that end of the spectrum” he elaborated on the verse.

His eminence remarked: teachers of ethics also always recommend moderation and they regard ethical virtues as the middle placed in between two extremes. In all virtues one should follow the way of moderation; for both shortcoming and extravagance are vices rather the middle way is virtue.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi highlighting the fact that the Islamic solidarity will come true only through moderation, criticized extremism in religious issues and said “some bigots just stand on their own idea and insults others this is against Islam”.

He reproached any insult to Islamic schools and said: a number of Egyptians send me an enquiry (Istifta) as to offending Islamic schools and I replied them that offending other Islamic schools is a sin and harm.  

His eminence also reproached the idea that if we want our problems to be solved we should put our religious beliefs aside and have just one school. Commonalities amongst Islamic schools are so much so we can be united under them and of course by going the way of moderation.

His eminence remarked: “the first time I had the honor to go to holy Mecca for performing Hajj I observed that there is no much differences between us and the ahlusunnah rather there are a few minute differences. Resorting to such commonalities we may set a united Ummah”

Muslim scholars should emphasize on commonalities and act in way so that Muslims get to know their real enemies.

The enemy highlights the differences within Islamic Ummah. They provoke the two sides and spread animosity amongst Muslims. Evolving on the pivot of moderation Muslim scholars should neutralize the enemy’s plots.

The strategy of enemies is “Divide and Rule”; we observe that they these days made Muslims fight each other in Egypt and other countries and laugh at them.
