In the Name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
In recent days we have received disturbing news regarding some clashes that have occurred between a number of people and the police forces in the neighboring Muslim country of Azerbaijan. Based on the news, a number of Shia Muslims have been killed in these clashes and a lot of others wounded or arrested.
I have always emphasized, in my meetings with or my messages to the Azerbaijani officials and religious figures, that we hope nothing but stability, security and welfare for all Muslim nations, and in particular, for our neighbors. Therefore, we have always been ready to provide our Muslim brothers with any assistance that they might require.
This is also why we feel obligated, based on our religious obligations, to advise the government of the Islamic country of Azerbaijan to respect the religious sentiments of their people as well as their religious rights. This is due to the fact that, placing restrictions on religious issues including Hijab, prayers, and mourning ceremonies in the month of Muharram, can give rise to public grievances and sometimes even to clashes and instability.
Moreover, we also ask the religious and patriotic people of Azerbaijan to try pursue their reasonable religious requests through legal and civil means, as far as possible, so as not to provide their enemies with the excuse to harm them.
Nowadays that all the countries in the region are threatened by the sedition of Takfirism and global Zionism, all efforts must be directed towards neutralizing and exterminating these two perils. The gravity of this danger can be grasped by looking at the dangerous and medieval assertions of the US presidential candidate, who has recently stated that all Muslims are a danger to the US.
Considering the gravity of the situation in which we are today, is it not the time to awaken and recognize our true enemy? Is it not the time for us to unite and j o i n forces to fight our common enemy?
I ask Allah to bless the respectable people of Azerbaijan with prosperity and felicity both in this world and in the hereafter.
