Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated in his meeting with the members of AEOI gathered from across the country along with expressing his gratitude for the unsparing efforts of this group: “the foundation of Islam is built upon knowledge and science. The first Ayat revealed on to the Holy Prophet (S)’s heart indicated the significance of knowledge and science”.
His eminent status emphasized: “Not only does Islam highlight Quranic and Islamic sciences, but also appreciates any science which is useful and effective for human society development. According to narrations, it is recommended by Islam to emigrate to the most distanced parts of the world and even deep in to the seas to obtain science.
" This is why prominent figures emerged from religious seminaries and brought up in Islamic culture, with respect to various fields of science including scholars like Ibn Sina (Ave Sina), Zakariya al-Razi, Shaykh‐i Bahāʾī and Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī” – His eminence added.
The Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi continued: History attests that the westerners learned most of their sciences from The Islamic Orient; but now, not only do they grudge spreading the sciences they possess, but are also not willing that others become involvedin scientific initiatives; and nuclear science is an instance of that. They try with full power to take from us this right and deprive us from it.
His eminence also added: Breaking down the Westerner’s exclusivism in developments and sciences is necessary; and our brilliant youth should make them feel embarrassed.
This respected Islamic Marja’ denoted: “Your scientific efforts in the peaceful nuclear energy is in fact a significant act of worship. Our enemies know that we are not looking for mass destruction weapons. They want to deprive us from the enormous effects of this peaceful energy in medicine, industry, agriculture and all affairs of life; but they will not reach success, as they have not until now.
