At the beginning of his advanced Fiqh course in the Aʿzam mosque in Qum, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated: “as time goes on, our distrust of the policies of the current rulers of the world deepens, and we become more skeptical of their intentions in what they do.”
His eminence also criticized the policies governing the world of today as “filled with lies, treachery and hypocrisy” and stated: “an obvious example of these policies was the reactions of the western powers to the defeat and failure of terrorists in Aleppo”.
In reaction to the west’s crocodile tears for children in Aleppo, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi noted: “You cried for the Syrian children in Aleppo in front of cameras and broadcast them in your media only after your proxy terrorists were completely defeated in the city. However, if you are truly worried about children’s rights, then why did you not react to the Saudi massacre of Yemeni children? Why do you not cry for the innocent Yemeni children?”
His eminence also added: “The UN secretary general publicly announced that the Saudi regime is a serious violator of children’s rights, although its name was removed from the black list of children’s rights violators because of its petrodollars. Moreover, UNICEF has also released a shocking report concerning the terrible conditions of children in Yemen. So why do you not shed a tear about these children?”
Calling the westerners “completely untrustworthy” Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi continued: “Under no circumstances can these politicians and their policies be trusted, because their policies are filled with lies, treachery, and hypocrisy.”
He also added: “In order to protect our rights in the world of today we need to be strong and powerful, otherwise we also will end up like those countries infected by the enemy”.
His eminence further noted: “They are trying to somehow make up for their failure and defeat in Aleppo. Fortunately, the world has become cognizant of their deception and hypocrisy and no one will fall for their crocodile tears. The real intentions behind the westerners’ hypocritical and largely contradictory policies have now been exposed and the world knows what is actually behind their words and deeds”.
At the end of his remarks, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi referred to the Iranian people’s huge rallies on December 30th 2009 held in defense of their country and government and stated: “Today, a ceremony is held in Feyziyyeh seminary school in commemoration of that day and I urge you to take part in it”.
