Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi at the beginning of his Fiqh course addressed the statement given by Iranian president as well as other country’s statements in the UN General Assembly and reiterated: the statements given by Western governments are somehow positive. We are not pessimist about this and hope that it leads to constructive changes.
His eminence highlighting the fact that neither the president nor other officials should be merely convinced by words, added: the truthfulness and good will of the West should manifest itself in their acts. If there is no change in their policies then there is no truthfulness.
Our government hopefully is aware of the fact that their good will is to be verified only by concrete steps; otherwise diplomatic formalities are quite usual in such meetings.
His eminence added: these political shifts towards Iran however, may show that through experiences gained during these years, they now appreciate the fact that Iran is a regional power which should come in to equations. So far however it has been just some words and we should wait for the action.
His eminence urged on Iranian officials to remain vigilant towards western governments and remarked: the basic policy of these countries is to get the most possible benefit and to give the less. Let’s see whether there are any changes in this policy or not. Our official should watchfully pass this stage.
His eminences in the last part of his talk stated “We hope they are back in their right mind and these blazing fires in the region will be put out. One of these western governments has said Iran should step away from Syrian crisis. This is dangerous and we should watch out for this.
We are hopeful for Allah’s mercy and wish that He showers the Muslim brave Iranian nation.
