In the opening of his Fiqh course in A’ezam Mosque in Qom, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi pointed out a number of ethical issues, while referring to a tradition by Imam Hassan Askari (‘a).
Stating that, in this tradition, Imam Hassan Askari (‘a) said: “Fear Allah and be a source of pride for us”, he said: “The Imam has asserted: “Keep away all abominations from us with your [good] deeds, [for] any goodness that is spoken of we enjoy, and any evil that is spoken of is away from us and we are away from it””.
Emphasizing the fact that we have to protect the honor of our Imams by our good deeds, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stressed the necessity of practicing what we preach and said: “if the people think that we are putting up a false front, our words and deeds will no longer be effective on them, but when they see one practices what he preaches, they will be influenced by his words”.
He further noted: “if we are able to come up with a good practical plan and show the world that our revolution is a source of unity, progress, and piety, we will be able to influence the world”.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, then, stated: “the reason why we emphasize and stress the significance of the cultural issues and that we advise the authorities not to take actions that would lead to the degradation and devaluation of cultural and moral values and to the corruption of virtues, and the fact that they should reform the media and not to say that [such corruptions] are the result of scientific advancements and that they cannot be stopped, is to present a good example of our revolution to the people so as to influence the world”.
Following his discussion in this regard, and stating that the Takfiris, including the ISIL, are great calamities that have been brought upon the world of Islam and the Muslim people, his eminence emphasized that their actions are a disgrace and a dishonor for Islam and Muslim people and said: “The Muslim scholars must unite and unanimously excommunicate the ISIL and the Takfiris so as to protect the dignity and the honor of Islam”.
He further said: “the so-called coalition that they have created is, in fact, a dangerous coalition against Islam, for, some of the members of this coalition, as they say, run with the hare and hunt with the hounds: they buy the oil stolen by the ISIL from the northern regions of Iraq at low prices.”
His eminence, then, added: “you have formed a coalition against the ISIL and you still support it! What kind of coalition is that?!”
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi added: “some of the members of this coalition are still providing the ISIL with military and financial support, and ISIL even has a representative office in Turkey, which has just recently j o i ned the coalition. What kind of coalition is this?!”
He further noted: “Qarzawi, the courtier Mullah, who is being supported by some of the Arab states, has recently issued a Fatwa, saying that ISIL must not be destroyed but it must be reformed”.
His eminence added: “a western politicians had said before that ISIL cannot be destroyed over the next thirty years as they want to use it as a tool, under the pretext of which, to keep the middle east insecure for thirty years so as to be able to put their evil and sinister plans in to practice and ensure the security of the Zionist regime”.
Highlighting the fact that ISIL has become a tool for creating insecurity in the region, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi noted: “I warn all Muslims to be cautions not to fall prey to the sinister plots of the west; their coalition is a coalition against Islam and against the region and it is formed to cause insecurity in the region.”
Reiterating that the only way to fight ISIL is to cut the military and financial support that is being provided to the ISIL as well as preserving the unity of the Muslim Ummah, his eminence addressed the apparent members of the so-called anti-ISIL coalition and said: “if you do not help the ISIL and do not equip them with arms they will be destroyed”.
