Referring to the recent remarks of the prayer leader of Masjid Al Haram, in which he insulted Iranians and excommunicated the Shiites, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated the following at the beginning of his Fiqh course in A’ezam Mosque in Qom: “this is while a few weeks ago these people held a congress against Takfiris; however, now they themselves have started using Takfir and excommunication and they insist that they must change the war in to a Sunnite-Shiite war”.
He pointed out: “you dare to excommunicate a large number of Muslims in the world in the most sacred center of Islam, after the baselessness of your own creed was made known to the whole world!”
His eminence, then, added: “After the emergence of Takfiri movements such as ISIL, Al Nusrah, and Al Qaida, and the atrocities that they committed, it is now completely clear that the creed of Takfir runs counter to reason, the explicit text of the Quran and the teachings of Islam. You must now renounce Wahhabism and Takfirism and accept that, in practice, the foul fruit of this tree had been Al Qaida and ISIL. You must leave them and j o i n the Muslim community”.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi stated: “you have destroyed Muslim countries, so do not pretend that you are the victim; instead, try to j o i n the Muslim community. What do you want to do in Yemen?! Iran, the Yemenis and all Shiites say that the issue of Yemen has to be resolved through diplomacy, and you must assent to the people’s will. However, you bomb the people there”.
His eminence asserted: “you bombed Syria and committed so many atrocities without any regard to the people’s will; why do you disregard people’s will and destroy everywhere and then accuse Iran and say that Iran is to blame?! The fact of the matter is that those who do not want to face the reality and the people’s will are to blame”.
He also added: “aren’t the Iraqis, Yemenis, and the Syrian people entitled to defend themselves? Now that the Yemenis say that they are ready to negotiate with each other and to agree on establishing an inclusive government, the Saudis’ grand Mufti says that attacking and bombing Yemen has been wise! Is devastation in accordance with wisdom?”
His eminence noted: “they are all living in a world of illusion, and their capital is slander and lie. They say that Iran and the Shiites intend to conquer Mecca and Medina; however, their recent scandal in Jeddah is enough for everyone [to know them]; this disgrace was totally unprecedented in the history”.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi further noted: “we mean no one any harm; so they must part ways from Takfiris and come back and j o i n Muslim people, in which case we will consider them our friends. This is a wise thing to do. However, it is not wise to be obstinate and persist doing something evil whose outcomes have been wickedness and slaughter”.
Praying for the problems of all Muslims in the world to be solved, his eminence asserted: “I hope that they take this as a friendly piece of advice, act based on it, and relieve the Muslim Ummah of this great calamity; may Allah the Almighty bring the ignorant back to their senses and save all the Muslims in the world from the evils of the wicked”.
