Indeed holding such workshops, with such supreme goals, in the present time and in the place where it is to be held, is considered an invaluable cultural undertaking. Certainly, such undertakings can have a substantial role in the promotion of the School of the Ahl-al-Bayt (ʿa).
The website of the office of Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, in collaboration with the Iranian Blood Transfusion Organization, has organized a campaign called #altruism_still_lives to invite all the people, who are mourning Imam Hussein’s ('a) martyrdom, to donate blood.
The encounter of Islam with other religions was with great respect and friendship. The Quran, which is the holy book of the Muslim faith, has instructed the believers as follows: ‘Do not argue with the People of the Book except in a manner which is best.’[1]
Is it not the duty of Muslim countries to voice their outrage at these crimes? Is it not time for the so-called Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which consists of nearly 60 Muslim countries, to hold an emergency special session in order to help these innocent people?
The issue of Wilāyah is one of the most important of precepts. The reason behind its importance can be found in a statement made by Imam Ali (ʿa) where he said that Wilāyah guarantees the implementation of other Islamic precepts.
The lecturers and students of the religious seminary can utilize the teachings of Imam al-Hadi (ʿa) in helping the people resolve their various ideological questions and doubts. Unfortunately, Imam al-Hadi (ʿa) has not been remembered like the other Imams (ʿa), nor have his teachings been given the attention that they truly deserve. We must do our best to remedy this shortcoming in ourselves and our institutions.
The supplication of ʿArafah must be recited with a full heartfelt presence and with complete understanding of its content. One must reflect on the deeper meaning of its various teachings and benefit from the blessings of this great day.
When we examine any book of jurisprudence, beliefs (ʿAqāʾid), the principles of jurisprudence, and ethics, we find that they are full of traditions narrated from Imam al-Baqir (ʿa) and Imam al-Sadiq (ʿa). These two Imams (ʿa) have left behind a massive intellectual and spiritual legacy and the implications of their teachings for the Islamic sciences are enormous.
The prevalence of various social problems has placed the ideal which we strive towards in our social lives at great risk. There are many problems which we are faced with in this regard. Through studying the various aspects of the life of Imam al-Jawad (ʿa) in regards to this field, we can create better policies which will help resolve these issues, particularly those related to marriage.
The scientific debates and discussions held by Imam ʿAli ibn Musā al-Rida (ʿa) are not a historical matter which only pertains to the past; they are rather a main source which should be utilized today for the comprehensive defense of Islam.
The lofty rank of the Lady Maʿṣūmah in the world of the Unseen is not only because of her being the child of Imam Musa ibn Jafar ('a) and the sister of Imam al-Rida ('a); it is also related to her own characteristics and spiritual greatness.

The rulers of Bahrain have caused a new tragedy, out of their blind allegiance to Saudi Arabia and the United States, by their cowardly raid on the house of the great cleric and scholar, Ayatollah Shaykh Isa Ghāsim. In this raid, they have kidnapped the great Shia cleric, and killed, wounded, and arrested a large number of innocent people. By so doing, the rulers of Bahrain have indeed added another dark page to their dark history, and planted the seeds of hatred and animosity all throughout that country.
It is quite pleasing to know that such a center is active in Germany, that is to say at the heart of Europe, and a number of our brothers and sisters are busy there studying Islamic sciences. We hope that such centers are also established in other areas and they expand their activities in scope.
I condole with the great Egyptian Nation and I pray to Allah the Almighty to grant the bereaved patience and fortitude, and the wounded the restoration of their health.
‘I remember two of his remarks from last year’s meeting; the first sentence was that terrorism has turned in to an unsolvable problem for Europe’; however, we believe that there are no problems which cannot be solved. In order to eliminate this problem, the following three steps must be taken: first, the ideological roots of terrorism must be destroyed, second, political negotiations must be conducted, and third, those who are guilty of committing acts of terrorism must be brought to justice. Only by following these three guidelines will the problem of terrorism be definitely eliminated.
